About

Fibre In My Area was created to answer a simple question: which fibre internet providers are actually available at a specific address in South Africa?

Unlike traditional broadband markets, South Africa’s fibre landscape is built around multiple fibre network operators and internet service providers.

Coverage depends on which networks serve your area, and available providers can vary by street, suburb, or even building. This makes it difficult to know what options are truly available without checking your exact address.

Fibre In My Area brings this information together in one place. By entering your address, you can quickly see which fibre networks serve your location and which providers offer services on those networks.

Why We Built Fibre In My Area

The idea for Fibre In My Area came from working on similar broadband availability platforms in other markets, including the UK. While analysing usage data, we noticed a growing number of visitors from South Africa trying to check fibre coverage and compare providers.

At the same time, South Africa’s fibre market has been expanding rapidly. Network operators like Vumatel, Openserve, MetroFibre, and Frogfoot continue rolling out infrastructure, while multiple ISPs compete on pricing and speed across those networks.

This creates more choice, but also more confusion. The same address may have access to multiple fibre networks, and the same provider may offer different pricing depending on the underlying infrastructure. We built Fibre In My Area to make that information easier to understand.

Our Mission

Our mission is to make fibre availability easier to understand across South Africa.

Finding reliable internet shouldn’t require visiting multiple provider websites or trying to interpret coverage maps. By combining fibre network data with provider availability, Fibre In My Area helps you see the full range of options at your address.

As more fibre networks expand across the country, transparency becomes increasingly important. Our goal is to make it easier to compare providers, understand coverage, and choose the right connection.
